"But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’" - Luke 2:10–11
Every year, we get to celebrate that the King of Kings, sitting on the Throne of Heaven, loves us so much that He came down to Earth into a cradle in the dirt.
Every stage of Jesus’ life calls us to worship. At Christmas, we treasure Him as a baby — God choosing to enter the world in vulnerability, wrapped in human weakness, laid in a manger. There is something in us that feels protective when we picture the infant Christ in the cold night air. He does not need our protection — yet He chose to be carried, fed, and held by the very people He came to save.
Jesus chose to become vulnerable and entrusted Himself to human care. Not because He needed protection in His divine nature, but because He submitted to human limitations as truly human. That is the miracle of the Incarnation — not that God was fragile, but that God willingly became touchable.
In His infancy, He models a kind of love marked by gentleness, tenderness, and awe — the kind of love we are called to offer one another. His coming as a child invites us to steward His message and His love with care. In choosing vulnerability, even as a baby, Jesus demonstrates the sacrificial love to which we are also called.
